Ratos De Porão Biography
Ratos de Porao is a band from Sao Paulo, Brazil, formed in 1981, and is among the first hardcore punk and thrash crossover bands in Brazil. They are one of the most influential and important hardcore punk bands from South America, having released 14 studio albums. The group is famous for their aggressivity and resistance and for always talking about subjects that affect the world population like politics, social issues, animal rights, and fights against capitalism. The band is influential to many heavy metal bands that followed, such as Sarcófago and Sepultura.
Ratos de Porao's name is Portuguese and translates to "Basement Rats".
Although they are not a widespread name outside of Brazil, Ratos de Porão have a cult status in the metal underground due to their unique sound and continued activity since 1981.
