The Finns' BLACKMENT new single "Maw of the Dread" is out now
BLACKMENT is a new band hailing from Finland who’s ready to take the metal scene by storm. Their latest single "Maw of the Dread" brings a sound that’s melodic and chunky at the same time and isn’t afraid to shirk an opportunity to stamp a chorus in your head.
Blackment's debut album Plains of Oblivion will release on September 9th. Previously the band has released a couple of small releases that gave a glimpse of the band’s sound that combines catchy melodies, striking riffs and a tight rhythm base, atmospheric synths, and a distinctive versatile vocal approach.

Guitarist Allan Välimaa explains:
“Maw of the Dread is an energetic and heavy song that starts like thunder. We’ve played this track in our rehearsal room since the summer of 2016 so this is one of our oldest tracks on the album. The structure of the song is still pretty much the same as back then, except for a couple of changes along the way.”
Blackment has recently been receiving positive feedback for its dark, original and mesmerizing sound, which includes a certain Rock influence mixed with heaviness and emotion. According to Blackment the song tells about the force that pushes people down a destructive path in life against their better judgment. To Blackment it is a song about enabling self-destruction, being responsible for your own toxic behavior by knowing what you should or not do but still doing it anyway.
