FORLORN HOPE unveils 'Down in Flames' from new EP
FORLORN HOPE has released a new single titled 'Down in Flames', drawing from the heroic actions of Flight Lieutenant James Brindley Nicolson during the Battle of Britain in World War II. This track is part of their upcoming EP 'Valour – Part I', set to release on August 30, 2024. The song is accompanied by a lyric video, enhancing the narrative with visual storytelling.
'Valour – Part I' marks the first installment of 'Valour', FORLORN HOPE's second full-length album. This collection focuses on fifteen Victoria Cross-winning actions from historical conflicts, portraying tales of sacrifice, determination, and valor across different battlegrounds. Each story is intricately told through the band's music, aiming to honor these heroes with the recognition they deserve.
The single 'Down in Flames' specifically recounts the valor of Nicolson, who, on August 16, 1940, became the only Fighter Command pilot awarded the Victoria Cross during the Second World War. Despite his plane being on fire, Nicolson chose to continue the fight, successfully taking down an enemy aircraft before bailing out. This track embodies the spirit of bravery and commitment that FORLORN HOPE aims to capture throughout their 'Valour' project. The EP and the broader album project are an auditory homage to these monumental moments in military history, brought to life through the band's passionate musical craftsmanship.
