NIXIL Unveils 'In Thrall' Single and Music Video

Renowned for their unique sound, Baltimore, Maryland's NIXIL has recently unveiled their latest single and music video, titled 'In Thrall'. The haunting track is the second one to be plucked from the forthcoming sophomore album of the U.S. black metal group, titled 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire'. The captivating music video, self-produced by NIXIL, is a testament to the album's theme of liberation through abyssal exploration.
NIXIL, speaking about 'In Thrall', comments: "‘In Thrall’ is a curse directed toward those who, through their base and willful ignorance, believe that systems of oppression are somehow synonymous with liberation." The band has been known for voicing their strong opinions on socio-political issues, and they continue to do so in this release.
Having marked their territory in 2021 with their debut 'All Knots Untied', NIXIL has been steadily gathering a dedicated following. Their live performances across the United States have been instrumental in their growth, performing alongside Hulder, Evoken, Molder, Yatra, and even gracing the Maryland Deathfest 2022.
NIXIL's unique approach to black metal offers a radical departure from the typical readings of their craft. The band has used the time since their debut to further expand upon concepts of chaos gnosticism, ego-death, self-empowerment, and freedom.
The current line-up, solidified with the arrival of guitarist/backing vocalist Alden, chose to record 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire' live at Magpie Cage Recording Studio with J. Robbins. The six songs that resulted are a testament to the band's frenzied despair and ominous existential terror.
NIXIL's latest offering is not just an invocation, but an invitation. 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire' is a call for those shackled by earthly traditions and guilt to shatter the illusion of self and step into freedom.
