OBSIDIOUS is thrilled to announce the release of another single, ‘Bound by Fire’
The technical progressive metal band OBSIDIOUS is ready to release their third single and video 'Bound by Fire'. The track is taken from their debut album "Iconic", which will be released on October 28, 2022, via Season of Mist.
OBSIDIOUS comment on the track:
“Another song with descriptive lyrics, this time dealing with a subject, unfortunately, on everyone’s lips at present: the horrors of wars and armed conflicts. The suffering of innocent people who have little or nothing to do with it, seeing their lives cut short. People who see their comrades die and, in other cases, are even forced to kill people they knew or were friends with just because they were on the opposite side. Killing or dying for something they did not start. One of humanity’s most brutal dichotomies.”
OBSIDIOUS crystallized after Klausenitzer, Trujillo, and Lanser departed amicably from fellow German tech-metallers OBSCURA in 2020. OBSIDIOUS captures time-tested fervor and glistening futuristic execution on "Iconic". At once, technical and transcendent, the Germans are back with a recharged songwriting and a forward-thinking debut album.
The album refers to the band’s wish to create “iconic moments” with their music and stage presence. The result is a perfect blend of magnetic melodies, classy arrangements, state-of-the-art production, and a strictly professional image - all based on a foundation of solid finesse and heaviness - that makes OBSIDIOUS an icon in its own right.
OBSIDIOUS is ready to deploy its unique brand of hooky neoteric metal on "Iconic". From Trujillo‘s wickedly clever riffs and Lanser‘s artful drumming to Klausenitzer‘s superb counterpoint and Perera‘s soaring vocals/venomous spits, songs like Under Black Skies, Iconic, Bound by Fire, and Nowhere brim with cool calculation and an aggressive spontaneity. They storm normality not only musically and lyrically, but the monolithic cover piece by French graphic artist Adrien Bousson (ROTTING CHRIST, KHONSU) also transcends convention. OBSIDIOUS is poised for a breakthrough on Iconic. Prepare for metal’s modern metamorphosis!
OBSIDIOUS current line-up:
Linus Klausenitzer – Bass
Rafael Trujillo – Guitar
Javi Perera – Vocals
Sebastian Lanser – Drums
