PESTILENCE Announces Roel Käller as New Bassist
PESTILENCE, the legends of Dutch death metal, have introduced Roel Käller as their new bassist, taking the reins from Joost van der Graaf. Van der Graaf had been with the band from 2019 until 2023 and was featured on one album, the 2021 release 'Exitivm'. Käller, before joining PESTILENCE, was best known for his contributions to the symphonic death metal band Mayan.
Patrizio Mameli, the brains behind PESTILENCE, commented: 'Roel Käller will be replacing Joost van der Graaf on bass. We've had a trial with him and he has proven to be more than capable of filling the spot. Plus, he's a fantastic guy, speaks well, loves the same music styles, and has graduated from conservatory. I want to thank all the bassists who showed interest for their time and commitment.'
Roel Käller added: 'Hello, everyone! I've known about PESTILENCE since my teenage years, so joining these guys is something I could have only dreamt about back then! I'm honored to be part of this amazing band's legacy! The band members have welcomed me in the best way possible, and the musical chemistry is already fantastic! I can't wait to hit the stage with them and meet all of you!!!'
PESTILENCE's ninth studio album, 'Exitivm', broke into various Billboard charts, including the Top 200 Best Selling Albums. In its first week, the album secured the 188th spot on the Billboard 200, the 23rd spot on the Current Hard Music Albums, and the 37th spot on New Artist Albums.
In 2023, PESTILENCE reprinted its classic catalogue via Agonia Records. 'Malleus Maleficarum' (1988), 'Consuming Impulse' (1989), 'Testimony of the Ancients' (1991), and 'Spheres' (1993) were remastered anew at Satanic Audio (Behemoth, Azarath) to significantly enhance the overall sound quality, using current studio equipment. The newly remastered albums are available in a wide range of physical formats and on streaming platforms.
