Black metal horde PROFANATICA are back with a vengeance, celebrating the imminent release of their new album 'Crux Simplex' with the unveiling of the single 'The First Fall'. The blasphemous track is now available for listeners to indulge in below:
The upcoming album, slated for a September 22, 2023 release via Season of Mist Underground Activists, is eagerly awaited.
Accompanying the single release, PROFANATICA also revealed the cover artwork for 'Crux Simplex', along with the full tracklist for the album. Among the ten tracks, fans can look forward to headbangers like 'Condemned to Unholy Death', 'Wipe the Fucking Face of Jesus', and 'The Third Fall', among others.
The creative force behind the album is the devastating duo of Mayhemic Slaughter of the Heavens on drums and vocals and Destroyer of Holy Hymen on guitar and bass. The recording line-up also includes The True Perversion of the Heavenly Father on bass. The album was recorded at Dead Lamb Studios, with mastering by Arthur Rizk.
With a history spanning over three decades, PROFANATICA has been a pivotal figure in American black metal. Led by the notorious Paul Ledney, the band has consistently delivered primeval blasphemy since its inception. Born from the first INCANTATION lineup, the band has produced a plethora of groundbreaking demos, shocking promotional materials, and controversial performances.
PROFANATICA's musical journey saw a rebirth in 2006, after a period of dormancy. Their album 'The Enemy of Virtue', as well as 'Profanatitas de Domonatia', have established their status as black metal royalty.
Over the past decade, PROFANATICA has been on a creative rampage, releasing multiple albums, mini-albums, and EPs, and even touring internationally. Their influence has extended to major festivals, including MDF, Messe Des Mortes, and Prague Death Mass, among others.
In 2018, PROFANATICA joined forces with Season of Mist and embarked on their biggest tour to date, supporting WATAIN and ROTTING CHRIST across Europe. A year later, their debut album 'Rotting Incarnation of God' under SoM spewed a vulgar strain of black metal.
In spring 2023, PROFANATICA returned to the limelight with a European headline tour promoting their latest album. 'Crux Simplex', a ten-track sonic onslaught, contorts the first ten stations of the cross into a nefarious spectacle. Continuing their legacy, PROFANATICA's eighth album dishes out bestial, first-wave black metal barbarity, featuring unprecedented levels of sacrilege and scorn.
