VOIVOD celebrates 40 years with ‘Condemned To The Gallows (2023 Version)’
VOIVOD, the groundbreaking Canadian sci-fi metal band, is commemorating 40 years of musical innovation with the announcement of a special anniversary studio album titled 'Morgöth Tales'. The album is slated for release on July 21, 2023, through Century Media Records and features a nostalgic treat – a reimagined version of ‘Condemned To The Gallows’, which was VOIVOD's first-ever song released on an album.
Denis ‘Snake’ Bélanger, VOIVOD’s frontman, expressed his sentiments on revisiting ‘Condemned To The Gallows (2023 Version)’, stating, ‘The Morgöth Tales album starts where it all began. ‘Condemned To The Gallows’ was the first song ever recorded in a studio...Revisiting this song was a real trip.’ He reminisced about the band’s early days and emphasized how the spirit of VOIVOD has remained youthful and fierce. The album ‘Morgöth Tales’ has been recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum, and produced by VOIVOD. It boasts of 9 specially selected tracks from the band’s diverse catalog (spanning 1984 to 2003), alongside a brand-new title track ‘Morgöth Tales’. The cover artwork has been crafted by the band’s drummer Michel ‘Away’ Langevin, adding an authentic touch to this monumental release.
