Skyclad put a fiddle player in a thrash band in 1990 and the idea escaped. Finland took it furthest, with accordions, humppa rhythms and bands whose second guitarist is a bagpiper, and the results run from serious ethnomusicology to a drinking song with a blast beat under it.
