Arch Enemy played the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona on 6 October without their drummer. Daniel Erlandsson was too ill to perform, and Hank Lin of Thrown Into Exile, one of the support acts on the Wrath Across North America tour, took the kit.

The band's own account of it is the detail that matters. Lin learned the set in under three hours and played it with no soundcheck and no rehearsal. They thanked him for saving the day and said Erlandsson is expected back on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

Arch Enemy's catalogue is not easy material to pick up at short notice, and a touring band carrying a replacement inside its own support bill is the kind of arrangement that only works when the opener knows the headliner's songs already.

The tour runs on with The Black Dahlia Murder co-headlining and Septicflesh, Crypta and Thrown Into Exile filling the bill, through Salt Lake City, Denver and the Texas and Florida dates before it turns north.
