Adversor have released This Mortal Coil, their fourth album, through Selvajaria Records. Twelve songs, among them Path to Oblivion, 2066, Gargantua and Totem of Doom.

The model is German thrash and they do not hide it. Kreator and Sodom are the obvious reference points for the speed and the bite, with progressive turns that owe something to Vektor and a melodic instinct closer to Nevermore. What has grown across four records is the melody, which now sits in front rather than behind the riff.

The subject matter is contemporary and the band are direct about it. Authoritarianism, violence, the way a society splits, and the danger in letting the worst parts of the past go unremembered. Against that there are quieter songs about loss, isolation and who a person is when the rest falls away.

Misanthropic-Art made the cover, a small anonymous figure in front of a void, which is as exact a summary of the record as the band could have asked for. They formed in Vicenza in 2015 and started with Rise To Survive a year later.
