Aegror recorded Reign Of Disease expecting it to be the last thing they did. Wormholedeath will reissue it on 8 January with an extra song, and the band are carrying on.
"What started as an album we believed might be our final statement has literally brought Aegror back from the dead," they said. "The Plaguebreeder clearly wasn't finished with us, and now the story continues on a much larger scale."
What changed their minds was the reception: listener response, reviews abroad and chart placements they say they did not expect. The record came out independently in 2025, eight years after Dead Man's Diary, which is the kind of gap that usually precedes an ending rather than a label deal. The new edition adds "Metamorphosis" to the original seven songs and comes with a lyric video for it.
Everything the band do sits inside what they call the Plaguebreeder Universe, built around an interdimensional entity that spreads through disease, fear and mental deterioration, and the atmospheric black metal underneath it is written to serve that rather than the other way round. They formed in Kerken in 2009 and took their name from the Latin for disease. Narthaas and Abyssus are what remains of the original line-up.
