After Infinity have released Beyond Eternity, nine tracks, through Rockshots Records.

It is their second album and it arrived on 23 October, two years after the self titled debut. The label describes it as pulling together the directions the singles campaign had been pointing in, from straightforward power metal through ballads to longer progressive pieces, which is a polite way of saying the record does several things rather than one.

That is the usual problem for a Finnish band in this register. Melodic metal from Finland has a crowded middle, and the second album is where a group either commits to a shape or spends the rest of its career being described as versatile. One of the singles stripped the guitars and drums out entirely, which suggests they know it.

Rockshots, an Italian label, carries a long list of bands at this level and has put the record out on the same day as two dozen others.
