Al Jourgensen has explained why Paul Barker, who shaped half of what Ministry ever sounded like, appears on exactly one song of their last record.
The plan was larger. Jourgensen told Revolver he had meant to bring Barker back for the whole farewell, to see whether the chemistry behind the records people still argue about was still there. Then they started working.
What worked in the Nineties doesn't work now, is how he puts it, and rather than force an album out of that he and Barker agreed to make one song that had room for both of them. We're Still Here closes Hate To Go: Take Out Or Delivery.
He has been blunt elsewhere about where they differ. Speaking to Forbes he called Barker the atmospheric one and himself the metal one, which is a fair description of the two halves that made the band work in the first place.
The album came out on 30 October through Cleopatra and is presented as the seventeenth and the last.
