Serbian band Ala have put out the video for Kill For Satan, the second single from a debut album that Wormholedeath releases on 23 October. The Dragon's Return was written across 2025.
Ala was started by Damir Mirojević, who signs himself Omadan IX, while he was playing in the Serbian black metal band Kolac. The project was made to hold the things that did not fit there, among them the repetition and atmosphere of nineteen seventies krautrock and psychedelic rock. He is joined by a guitarist, a bassist and a drummer who give their names as M., G. and R., with time behind them in Terrorhammer, Pustoš, Atomski Rat, Chaoist, Egzekutor and Armburst.
The single itself is blackened thrash with a traditional heavy metal spine, and the album around it moves between fast riffing, melodic hooks, psychedelic guitar and ambient passages. The band name their influences plainly: Slayer, Motörhead, Mercyful Fate, Sarcófago, Dissection, Nifelheim, Destroyer 666 and Watain.
Kill For Satan sets its rebellion against a demiurge, a deceiving creator who keeps the world in a prison, and the album's wider subjects are rebellion, instinct and transcendence. The band take their name from a destructive serpent in Serbian folklore, which is also where the title of the record comes from.
