Amon Amarth went to number one on the hard rock chart in the United States, in Canada and in Sweden, and to number one on the rock and metal chart in Germany, with The Allfather Awakens.

The other figures are the interesting ones. Eighth on Top Digital Albums in the United States and thirteenth on Indie Store Albums; second on Rock and Metal Albums and sixth on Independent Albums in the United Kingdom; fifth overall in Switzerland, second in Austria, eighth on digital in Australia. Genre charts flatter everybody, and an all format top ten digital placing in the biggest market does not.

Metal Blade released it at the start of October. The band have been going since 1992 and have spent most of the last decade becoming the rarest thing in this business, a death metal band that fills rooms built for pop acts without changing what they do.

The touring production has been rebuilt around Oden's Golden Hall, which is what a chart run of this size pays for.
