Amon Amarth will headline Rockharz Open Air 2027. The festival put the confirmation out on its own social channels rather than waiting for a press cycle, and said plainly why: after the release show in Essen the night before, they could not keep quiet any longer.
The timing is the story. The Allfather Awakens came out on Friday and sits fourth in the official German album midweek charts, and that is the week a festival wants to sign a headliner rather than the week after.
That makes thirty bands confirmed for the 2027 bill so far, a list that already runs from Accept and Arch Enemy through Marduk, Korpiklaani, Grave Digger, Metal Church and Tankard to Bruce Dickinson and The Sisters Of Mercy. Ten more arrive on Friday afternoon as the rest of the October wave.
Rockharz runs in the Harz mountains and books the classic end of the genre without turning into a nostalgia bill, which is the narrow thing a mid sized German festival has to get right. A headliner whose record is in the chart that same week is not the usual way it goes.
