The horn that announces the end of the world opens the record. Amon Amarth release The Allfather Awakens on 2 October through Metal Blade Records.
The ten tracks are Gjallarhorn, Eight Legs of Thunder, Kvasir's Blood, We Rule the Waves, Upphaf, Die with a War Cry, Raven God, The Allfather Awakes, Oden's Hunt and Ascending like an Eagle. Three of them, Gjallarhorn, Upphaf and Eight Legs of Thunder, have been out ahead of it with videos.
Note the eighth title against the album's: the record is called The Allfather Awakens and the song is called The Allfather Awakes, which looks like the kind of distinction a band makes on purpose after thirty four years of writing about the same pantheon. Eight Legs of Thunder is Sleipnir and Kvasir's Blood is the mead of poetry, so the sourcebook has not changed either.
The band formed in Stockholm in 1992, with Johan Hegg singing from the first day and Olavi Mikkonen on guitar for just as long.
