Anomic have a label. Pest Records will put out The Spider's Code on CD on 13 November, with the album reaching streaming services the same day.

The band are three years old. Raaf Atasi, a Dutch and Syrian guitarist and vocalist, started them in Amsterdam in August 2023, wrote all the music and lyrics himself, and has since built a line-up split between Amsterdam and Leipzig. Yazan Ju mixed and mastered the record.

What they sound like is declared openly: Coroner, Monstrosity, Testament, Death and Bolt Thrower, with Middle Eastern figures threaded through the riffing. That is a lineage with more thrash in it than most death metal bands will admit to, and the first song out, the lyric video for "The Fatal Cure", plays it that way.

The number worth noting is not the release date. Twenty five shows in the first six months of this year, twenty more booked for the second half: that is the work that gets a band signed at this level, and it is why a label is paying to press a CD for an act with one EP behind it.

Before this there was Opacity, the 2024 debut EP, on Wormholedeath Records.
