Anthrax release Cursum Perficio on Friday, 18 September, through Megaforce Records in North America and Nuclear Blast Records everywhere else. It is their twelfth studio album and the first since For All Kings in 2016, the longest wait between two Anthrax studio albums.
The title is Latin and reads as "my journey has come to an end". When the album was announced, Charlie Benante said he saw the phrase in a Marilyn Monroe documentary, written on a tile in her last home, and added: "We aren't saying this is our last record."
Jay Ruston produced the album with the band, and it was recorded mainly at Studio 606. The line-up is the one that made For All Kings: Joey Belladonna on vocals, Scott Ian on rhythm guitar, Jonathan Donais on lead guitar, Frank Bello on bass and Benante on drums.
Three songs are already out. "It's for the Kids" came in May with a video that looks back to the band's old "Madhouse" clip, "The Edge of Perfection" followed in July, and "Everybody's Got a Plan" in August, its video shot largely while the band were supporting Iron Maiden. The cover is by Mark Stritzel, and a run of weekly animated clips introduced the characters in it, the last of them on 1 September.
The album holds eleven songs and runs 53 minutes, opening with the minute-long "Persistence of Memory" and closing with "My Victory". It is out on CD, as a black double LP and in a box set holding a picture disc double LP, the CD, a poster and a photocard.
