Aodon now have three songs out of Khamsin in public, with Sous les sangles joining Anthracite and À ton ombre. Transcending Obscurity Records releases the album on 27 November.
The division of labour in this band is unusually clean. M-Kha is credited with all of the music and the harsh vocals, and Alix.R writes the lyrics, which for an atmospheric black metal project means one person builds the whole sound and another supplies what it says.
No Clean Singing premiered the song in the middle of October and called it elaborate, richly layered and dynamic, with Islander tracing how it moves between forceful rhythms, intertwining guitar melodies and quieter stretches.
The label frames the whole record the same way, as compositions that change shape while they run, with melody carrying as much of the weight as the harsher material. Turmoil and anguish are in it, and so are moments that resolve.
It is their fourth album, announced in September. AJ Viana Productions mixed and mastered it, Alex Eckman-Lawn did the visual design, and it comes digitally, on vinyl with an insert, and on jewelcase CD with an eight page booklet.
