Apes of God have dated God's Death and the Void for 2 December and will release it themselves. "Nihilistic Ecstasy" is out ahead of it with a lyric video.

Sixteen releases in eleven years is the number worth looking at here. Two albums, several EPs, a pile of splits, two live records, demos and a compilation, almost all of it self released or carried by small labels, from a band in Santa Tecla in a country with almost no metal infrastructure at all. The splits are how that works: a band in El Salvador reaches an audience by sharing a record with somebody who already has one.

The music is death metal with thrash underneath, which is the dominant form across Central America and has been since the eighties, and it is played fast rather than cleanly. Misanthropy in 2018 and En el recinto de la tempestad in 2021 are the two full-lengths.

"The Eternal Return" came earlier this year as a single. Death in Pieces Records handled the last of their records, but this one goes out on the band's own account.
