Aschen have put out two videos from their first album, The Never Ending Search.
Azken Arbolak, The Last Trees, is an ecological argument made as a song: the natural world taken apart by people, and the resistance of whatever trees are left, described as guardians that hold the underground to the stars and outlast everything thrown at them across millennia. It ends on the side of the forest rather than the people. The video was shot in the woods of the Basque Country, almost all of it in Navarre, where the band are from.
The Forsaken Redeemer takes the Passion and uses it for something colder: a saviour refused and then executed, standing in for a society that has taken the meaning out of truth, where any account of anything can be questioned, bent or deleted once it gets in the way of power. Slow, heavy and repetitive, with hypnotic guitars carrying a faint eastern turn, acoustic passages, spoken parts and an ending that is aggressive and stricken at the same time.
The Pamplona band formed in 2022 and released a demo in 2024. WormHoleDeath have them.
