Atoll have announced Death Roll Party 9000 for 15 January through Unique Leader Records and put out Weed Witch, which has Crown Magnetar vocalist Dan Tucker on it.
Three songs on the record carry guests, which for a slamming death metal band is less a favour than a strategy. Tucker, whose own band released The Hollowing Of Godflesh in September, is on this one. Nathan Gearheart of Vehemence takes Swamp Terror Alligator, and Vladislav Martirosov and Arseny Kovalchuk of Extermination Dismemberment appear on Atomic Sunburn.
The band describe Weed Witch as a slow groove with the tempo pulled around underneath it, and they are blunt about what they were after. They wanted something absolutely disgusting but still fun, built from nasty riffs and large breakdowns, and the words are a joke at the expense of how strange the internet has got rather than anything occult.
It is the heavier and slower end of the album, by their own account. The video was shot in Denver with Tucker in it, and Inhuman Implants from 2024 is the record it follows.
