Autumnfall have put out "Crystal Skies", a new song from The Archaic Sins, the album Ardua Music releases on 25 September.
The album is unusual in what it contains. Seven of its eight pieces were written between 1998 and 2001, in the years Jussi Hanninen was the main writer in Fall of the Leafe, and have been arranged and recorded again rather than reissued. One song on it is new. "Crystal Skies" is the one Hanninen names as his favourite, and he puts it down to the words rather than the music: "It's an interesting piece in the sense that the lyrics actually have somewhat of a positive undertone."
The band is Finnish, started in Veneskoski in 2019, and takes its name from "Storm of the Autumnfall", a song on a Fall of the Leafe demo from 1996. Hanninen writes and plays guitars and bass, Tero Ruohonen has sung since the beginning and Olli Pirkkanen has played drums since 2021. Three albums came before this one, Ghosts of Light in 2021, Bleak in 2022 and The Archaic Shadows in 2024, with a run of singles between them.
