Avgrum release Womb of Death, their first album, on 12 January through W.T.C. Productions. Born of the Rope is out from it already.

The title is not new. A demo called Womb of Death appeared in 2017, and the album finally carries the name into a full record, eight songs long, with titles that keep to one register throughout: Incipent Chaos, A Vastation of Burning Night, A Bitter Wine of Wrath, Hymn to the Abyss, Fervent Supplication to Death.

The band formed in Denver in 2010 and have let sixteen years pass between the start and a debut album, which in American black metal is not unusual and is usually a sign of a project that waited rather than one that stalled. The current line up is built around Abraxas, with Flo Musil and Romain Goulon, the drummer best known from a run of French and German death metal records, among the names on it.

W.T.C. Productions is the label that has carried a large part of the orthodox black metal of the past two decades, which places the record before anyone has heard more than one song from it.
