Avrak have a lyric video for Unborn, five days before Peaceville Records issue the self titled album it comes from on 9 October.
The band is two guitarists who had known each other a long time and finally did something about it. Anders Hegna, of Nød, El Kayenne and Svidd Grevling, and Ted Skjellum, who is half of Darkthrone, started it in November 2023 over a shared taste for old rock and old metal, and by the label's account the first songs took shape inside five days. Skjellum said at the outset that he would not be singing, which left the job to Hegna, whose own voice the label describes as a comfortable enough match for the material. Terje Kråbøl, of Gjendød, Sarke and Faustcoven, joined on drums some weeks later and the writing accelerated from there.
Peaceville calls the result hook laden and doom laced, and files it as rock rather than metal in its own announcement. Metal Archives files the band as black, heavy and doom metal, which covers the same ground from three directions.
The two sources disagree on when this started. Peaceville says November 2023. Metal Archives dates the band to 2025, which is when the first recordings surfaced rather than when the two of them sat down. Two singles have gone out ahead of the album and Unborn is one of them, the other being The Lonely Shadow.
