Avulsed have written their own history. Still Rotten: 35 Years of Avulsed History runs to 564 pages, comes in Spanish, and is told by Dave Rotten, who started the band in August 1991 and has never left it.

That last fact is what makes the book worth anything. Thirty five years of Spanish death metal involves a great many musicians passing through, and exactly one person was present for all of it.

Three hundred copies are being printed, black pages with white text, nearly two hundred photographs, and the first of them go to people at the four anniversary shows in Spain between 4 and 7 December, with signings at each one.

Rotten says a year went into gathering it, and he frames the point of the exercise carefully: a chance to explain things that have been distorted in the retelling, while admitting the book is only what he himself lived through. Band histories rarely include that second half of the sentence.

Whatever is left after the shows goes to the Full Of Metal store from 9 December.
