Baby on a Rampage release the EP Forgive My Figure on 12 November. Reclaim is the first song from it and the first official music video the Oakland band have made.
Scott Proctor co-produced it. He tours with Five Finger Death Punch and has engineered for Machine Head and Testament, and the label line is that the EP is the widest the band have sounded so far. Their debut album Fall with Disgrace came out last year under Michael Rosen, whose own list runs through Testament, AFI and Less Than Jake, so the band have now worked with two producers in two years and kept the same four people.
Those four are Ash Lee on guitar and vocals, Bruno Latini on guitars, John Muir on bass and vocals and Lyra Renninger on drums and synthesizers. Metal Archives files them under progressive death and groove metal and places them in Oakland, California.
Lee wrote Reclaim alone and is direct about what it is. He told Metal Hammer Italia he was deeply troubled by the genocide in Palestine when he wrote it, and that the song is about rebelling and taking back what is yours, a call to reclaim a position of government, aimed at the colonial history of the United States government and at how it funds other governments before dealing with its own concerns. Political violence, colonisation and environmental devastation are the three things he names.
