Black Sabbath's last concert reaches home formats on 11 December. Back to the Beginning comes out as Blu-ray, CD, vinyl and digital through Mercury Studios, with pre orders open now, and a deluxe box follows in April carrying all thirty five performances from the day.
The day was 5 July 2025 at Villa Park in Birmingham. Ozzy Osbourne played a solo set from a throne and then sat with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time in twenty years. Metallica, Slayer, Gojira, Pantera and Tool played before them.
He died seventeen days later. Sharon Osbourne has said her husband wanted one last show to thank the people who had kept him there, which is what the footage now has to carry.
A performance of Mr. Crowley from that night is out ahead of the release, and it is the song that makes the point: written for his first solo record in 1980, sung at Villa Park forty five years later, the last place anybody heard him do it.
