Balance Of Terror will release Addicted to Any Kind of Rot on 11 December 2026, nine years after World Laboratory in 2017. Eight tracks, and the title comes off the middle of the record rather than the top of it.

How it sounds: the foundation is brutal and classic death metal, and what the band have added is contrast rather than a change of direction. Technical flourishes, dissonant passages and the occasional melodic break sit inside an otherwise direct death and grind frame, which keeps the songs from settling into one pattern without turning them progressive.

The tracks are Unethical Steroid Abuse, Inebriated Perversity, Morbid Gluttony, Hideous Physical Obsession, Addicated To Any Kind Of Rot, Vulgar, Old And Sick, Bipolar Insanity and Demonic Delirium.

The line-up is Quentin Guilluy on bass, Mathieu Desaint on drums, Flo Butcher on vocals and Gaz Oil and Nicolas Cornet on guitars. Desaint has played with Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition and Darkall Slaves, and Butcher is associated with Relics Of Humanity and Tortured, which places this squarely in the French end of that scene. Par Olofsson, who has worked with Immolation, did the artwork. The band formed in Saint-Omer in 2014 and are on Transcending Obscurity Records.
