Bassaium release Wrapped in Death today through Bang the Head Records. The Tokyo band formed in 1998 and this is their return after roughly eighteen years without a record.
Twelve tracks, and the running order says plainly what the band are: Bathory's Basement opens it, the title track sits in the middle, and Stay Thrashing closes it. In between there is a cover of Trapped by Disrupt, the Massachusetts grindcore band, which places the taste as precisely as any press release could.
Japanese death and thrash of this vintage rarely comes back at all, and when it does it usually comes back softer. Nothing on this tracklist suggests that happened.
