Be'lakor have gone into the studio to record their sixth album. It will hold eight songs and arrive in 2027.

The last one was Coherence, in 2021, which means five years will have passed by the time this one lands. That is a normal gap for them. The band have never worked quickly, and the records have never sounded like they were made quickly either.

Eight songs is worth noting for a group whose pieces routinely run past seven minutes. Melodic death metal of this kind lives on long form writing, where a melody is introduced, abandoned and brought back forty bars later, and a tracklist of eight from this band is not a short record.

Melbourne has produced a particular version of the style, slower and more patient than the Gothenburg template it came from, and these five have been the most visible part of it since the middle of the 2000s. Their audience outside Australia was built almost entirely by word of mouth rather than by touring.

No title, no label statement and no date beyond the year. The band say more will follow in due time.
