Belushi Speed Ball have released a film for "That's A Mighty Fine Wayne Gretzky", from Toxic Waste Was Everywhere In The '80s, built as a tribute to Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
"We proudly present our disasterpiece of a music video," said Vinny Castellano, who sings. "A straight Aqua Teen Hunger Force reference, channeling our entire Adult Swim childhood into one random chaotic adventure. Pure nonsense for the enjoyment of all thrash and anthropomorphic food fans."
He directed and edited it himself, with artwork by Justin McClure and effects by Vlad K, which is how a band at this level gets an animated film made at all.
The Louisville band have built everything on that register: twelve tracks of crossover thrash with pop culture satire on top, played fast enough that the jokes have to keep up. It is a narrow seam, and the ones who work it badly sound like a novelty act within one record. These have been at it long enough to have an audience that comes for both halves.
Three dates follow in November: Morgantown on the 5th at 123 Pleasant St, Harrisburg on the 6th at Capital City Music Hall, Rochester on the 7th at the Bug Jar.
