Book of Wyrms have dated Megacelestial for 11 December and released "Proficient Dreamer", the second song from it, alongside the announcement.
It is a fourth album in a decade, which for a band working this slowly is a steady pace rather than a sluggish one. Everything they do is built on repetition and on letting a riff stay where it is for longer than is comfortable, and records like that cannot be written quickly without becoming something else.
They come out of Richmond, Virginia, a city with its own stoner and doom lineage that does not sound much like the Californian version of the genre: heavier on the fuzz, lighter on the sun, and more willing to let a song drift.
Ten releases are behind them, three of them albums. December is a strange month to put a record out, when almost nobody is listening to anything new, and bands who do it are usually releasing for the people who already follow them rather than for anybody else.
