Book Of Wyrms have released "Proficient Dreamer", the second song from Megacelestial, and filled in the rest of the details for the album, out on 11 December through Argonauta Records.
It is their fourth record, and the Virginia band have spent the three before it in the same territory: heavy psychedelia played at doom tempos, organ as often as guitar, and songs that take their time arriving anywhere. The album was announced earlier with the first song.
Argonauta are an Italian label with a deep stoner and doom roster, and the format list, CD, coloured vinyl and digital, is the standard shape for a record aimed at people who still buy things.
December is a strange month to release a record of this kind, far from the festival season that carries bands like this, which suggests the band would rather have it out than wait for spring.
Richmond has quietly built a scene around this sound over the last fifteen years, heavy and psychedelic rather than fast, and Book Of Wyrms have been part of it since 2014 without ever leaving it.
