Boss Keloid have released Pedestal, the second song from Float & Aperture. Church Road Records puts the album out on 23 October.
It is their sixth, and it arrives five years after Family the Smiling Thrush, which is the longest gap the band have left. In between came a live record made at Foel Studio and very little else, which for a band whose albums have come every two or three years since 2013 reads as deliberate rather than stalled.
Metal Archives files them simply as sludge metal, and that label has fitted worse each time: the records since Melted on the Inch have kept the weight and pushed everything else towards progressive rock, which is why most write-ups now reach for a second word.
They are three. Alex Hurst sings, Paul Swarbrick plays guitar and Liam Pendlebury-Green bass, and all three have been in it since Wigan in 2010.
