A Finnish melodic death metal band covering a nineties Eurodance record should be a disaster. Brymir have recorded Scooter's How Much Is The Fish, with a video, three days before their new album.
The band grew up on Eurodance and say the cover is an homage to their own adolescence. Underneath it is the same subject they put into Herald of Aegir on Voices In The Sky in 2022, which is what people are doing to the sea. They also say the new record is by some distance the darkest thing they have written, which makes the timing of this release a deliberate joke.
What We Leave Behind arrives on 2 October through Napalm Records. The band are playing release shows in Finland now and cross Europe in February and March 2027, opening in Copenhagen on 19 February and closing in Bochum on 6 March, with Oslo, Stockholm, Hamburg, Aschaffenburg, Berlin, Stuttgart, Pratteln, Munich, Leipzig, Neunkirchen, Cologne, Sittard and Utrecht in between.
