Callider have released The Explorer, seven tracks, along with a video for "One Note".

The oddity is in the running order. The horn introduction to "One Note" grew long enough to be separated out, and it now stands as its own piece, "Stars, Wind and Sails (Embarking of the Hōkūleʻa)", directly before the song it used to open.

"The arrangement starts with a long horn section intro which we split off into the separate track," Stefan Lange said. He described the song itself as classic melodic death metal riffs and melodies, with the horns coming back later and the whole thing ending on what he called an almost singalong chorus.

Lange is effectively the band. Callider started in Nuremberg in 2023 and reached this record through two singles, the EP Southern Stars and a compilation appearance, all of it unsigned. Writing brass into melodic death metal is the kind of decision that only survives when nobody above you is asking what the single is.
