Campa have released Architecture of Decay on Witches Brew, the first album from a Berlin band who have spent four years putting out singles instead.

Three of those singles are on it. Fueled by Hate, Egomania and Apocalypse all went out separately before the record, which means a third of the album was already public, and the band have effectively been releasing it in instalments since 2022.

Track five is called U8 Life. The U8 is the Berlin underground line that runs through Kottbusser Tor and Gesundbrunnen, and naming a thrash song after it is a local joke that will travel exactly as far as the people who have ridden it.

Witches Brew are the right label for that. They have spent two decades reissuing and releasing thrash that belongs to a scene rather than a market, mostly on vinyl, mostly for people who already know what they are looking for.

The title is the one piece of abstraction on a record otherwise made of short, blunt sentences.
