Carnation have put out a video for "Boundless Pathways", the third song taken off Symphony In Flesh before the album arrives on Friday.

Three songs from a record in the fortnight before it lands is a lot, and the Belgian band have spread them deliberately: the opening track came first, then the quietest thing on the record, and now this. Each one has shown a different side of the album rather than three versions of the same riff.

That matters more for a death metal band than most, because the complaint the genre attracts is sameness across a record. Picking the loud one, the slow one and a third that is neither is an argument against it made in the running order of the singles.

The album is out on 16 October and our own calendar has carried the date since it was announced. Carnation work the Swedish strain of death metal out of Belgium, which is an unusual address for it, and the three singles are all anyone outside the label has heard of the record so far.
