Carnation have a video for Labyrinth of Silence, from Symphony in Flesh, the album out on 16 October. It is the second song from the record to get one.
The band describe it as the atmospheric one. "There's a strong sense of atmosphere that pervades the entire track, driven by dreamy lead guitars layered over heavy mid-tempo riffs and groovy drumming," they told the press, adding that it gives the song space and fluidity and lets it develop naturally rather than arrive.
The lyric is the part they called personal. It is about the frustration of not being able to express yourself, the sense of being shut inside your own head, and the fight with what is in there. "The writing process itself was a cathartic experience, rooted in confronting inner struggles and their mental and physical repercussions," they said.
That makes a pair with the other song they have shown. Blackmouth, which opens the album, is about hostility reproducing itself, and was built from blast beats and groove. Two singles, two directions, and the Belgian band have said the record goes back to the foundations of what they do rather than away from them.
They play Zappa in Antwerp on 7 November, their only album release show in Flanders this year.
