Celestial Scourge have set Exomia for 20 November on Time To Kill Records and put out Foreseen Systematic Malfunctions from it.
The story carries on from Observers of the Inevitable, which came out last year. Earth is evacuated, the ships cross hostile space, and the planet they are heading for looks deserted from a distance. “This turns out to be far from the truth as soon as they land,” the Norwegians say, which is the entire plot of the second half and they are not pretending otherwise.
Musically the change is toward directness. The technical and brutal death metal foundation stays, the arrangements stay intricate, but the band say they went after riffs that stick this time rather than only ones that are difficult. Before the two albums there was the Dimensions Unfurled EP in 2023 and a run of singles.
