Celestial Scourge have put out "Spherical Aberrations", from Exomia, which Time To Kill Records release on 20 November. Devin Swank of Sanguisugabogg sings on it.
The guest is placed rather than sprinkled. Swank takes the breakdown, which in a technical death metal song is the one section where the riff stops moving and the voice has to carry the weight by itself. Putting a slam vocalist there is a specific decision about what that part of the song is for.
"It's one of our absolute favorite tracks to play so far," the band say, which is a claim about a song they admit they have barely played live yet. Technical death metal bands tend to find out on stage which songs work, and this one has not had the chance.
It is their second album, and the Norwegian technical scene it comes out of has been producing bands faster than anyone outside Norway can keep track of.
