Chad Gray of Mudvayne went back on stage on 7 October, at the Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas, after cancelling two shows in California. He explained why in a video posted hours before the set, and the detail is worse than the headline.

His voice had not felt right since the tour began. He assumed allergies. His coach told him to have it looked at, and an ear, nose and throat surgeon in New York found a lot of inflammation and a broken blood vessel on a vocal cord, which means the voice had bled. He finished the shows he had left by dropping an octave wherever he could, then took the eleven days off he had and rested.

Two more examinations in Las Vegas found the inflammation going down. The clearance he was given came with a condition he repeated himself: extreme caution, because going too far could affect the voice permanently.

Then he caught his wife's cold, which is what actually cost the two Californian dates. The solo tour is scheduled to finish on 20 October in Nashville, which is another two weeks of singing on a cord that has already given way once.
