Cirith Ungol release All the Shadows tomorrow on No Remorse Records. Eight tracks, the shortest 3:35 and the longest 7:18.
The running order goes title track, This Mortal Stain, Turning Blind, Shadow Reflection, Empty Tomb, On Broken Wings, Hollow Nimbus and Venus in Thirds. The two that have already been released are the first and the last, which is an unusual pair to give away and leaves the middle six entirely unheard.
This band formed in Ventura in 1971, broke up in 1992 convinced nobody had been listening, and came back in 2015 to find that a generation had been passing their records around in the meantime. Everything since has had the quality of a second life nobody expected, least of all them.
On Broken Wings at 7:18 is the one to watch. Nothing this band have done in the last decade has been short of ambitious, and the longest track on a late record is usually where they put the argument.
