Cloak release Above, Below, and Through on 12 February through Metal Blade Records. It is their fourth album and the first since Black Flame Eternal in 2023.

That is the whole announcement so far: a title, a date and a label. No song, no sleeve, no tracklist.

They are an unusual band to find on a roster like this one. Atlanta is not where American black metal is supposed to come from, and what they play has as much Danzig and early gothic rock in it as it has anything Scandinavian, which has made them hard to place and easy to like. Metal Blade signed them for exactly that reason and have stayed.

Thirteen years in, four albums is a steady rate for a band who have never had a scene to carry them. February is a long wait with this little to go on, and that is clearly deliberate.
