Counterparts will play five Japanese shows in February, the last leg of a winter that starts in Scandinavia and goes most of the way round the world.

The Japanese week opens at Unit in Daikanyama on 19 February and closes at Antiknock in Shinjuku on the 23rd, with 7th Avenue in Yokohama, Drop in Osaka and Muse in Kyoto in between. Those are small rooms, two of them very small, which is what a Canadian melodic hardcore band gets in a country it has rarely visited.

Getting there is the long part. They open for thrown across Europe from 27 November in Stockholm to the Troxy in London on 13 December, with No Cure and HEAVENSGATE on the same bill, then go to Australia from 27 January in Perth to Townsville on 7 February, and only then fly north.

Three continents inside eleven weeks is the shape touring has taken for bands at this level: book everything around one long haul flight, because the flight is the cost that cannot be cut.

Tickets for Japan go on sale on Saturday 7 November at ten in the morning local time.
