Crowbar Will Start Writing in January, and Windstein Is Counting Drives

Crowbar will begin writing the follow up to Zero And Below at the start of next year, Kirk Windstein told Metalcavern.

"We're gonna start writing first of the year," he said. "But we write quickly, and if we can get on maybe like a three day a week type of schedule and really stick to it, it'll come very quickly, because it's been a while since we've written."

He is generous about the other three and specific about why. "Obviously, I write the majority of the riffs," he said, but Matt Brunson "might not write as much" and what he does write "is great", and Pat Bruders "wrote a lot of the really killer stuff on the new Down album as well".

The obstacle is geography. Windstein, Brunson and Bruders live near the rehearsal space; Tommy Buckley is fifteen minutes from Phil Anselmo on the north shore of New Orleans, which is a drive, and a band that wants to write three days a week has to work around it.

The last album came out in April 2022. Four and a half years is the longest gap in their history, and this is the first thing said about the next one that has a month attached to it.
