Lisbon is not where the rest of the world goes looking for brutal death metal, which is rather the point. Crucivore have put out a second track from Desecration, the album Testimony Records release on 13 November.
Devourer Of Existence follows Depths of Despair, which the label put out earlier in the year along with Triumph of the Grotesque Disorder. All three come from the same record, which will be the band's first full length after two singles.
Crucivore are a three piece: Cesar Craveiro on bass, Tomas Carvalho on drums and Sergio Pascoa on guitars, with Carvalho also in Haunted Minds and ATA and Pascoa playing live for Serrabulho. The playing sits in the plainest part of the genre, the low end mixed forward and the tempo changes carrying the weight that riffs carry elsewhere, and the new track keeps the same shape as the first two.
Testimony Records, the German label behind Devourer Of Existence, has spent the last decade on exactly this kind of band, and Crucivore are the first Portuguese act it has taken on in some time.
